Stellar Solutions is seeking a Material and Inventory Management Specialist to support material control and hardware logistics for a flagship Space Telescope Program. The successful candidate will help build and manage processes for material tracking, inspection, and lab interface to ensure hardware flows safely and efficiently from receipt through final delivery

Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Space Telescope Program team to develop standards, processes, and methods for receiving, inspection, cleaning, kitting, and shipping of hardware components
  • Support selection and implementation of an inventory control system for bonded stores and hardware under development (including travelers/build books)
  • Identify training needs for material handling based on personnel job functions
  • Collaborate with lab personnel to ensure that correct tooling, methods, and safety precautions are communicated and followed
  • Develop metrics to assess the health and performance of material tracking systems
  • Develop metrics to assess lab practices and safety of personnel and equipment
  • Support continuous improvement of material handling processes and lab techniques
  • Provide quarterly status reports on the development and performance of inventory control systems and handling processes

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or other technical/STEM discipline
  • Experience with material handling, inventory control systems, or production/lab operations, preferably in aerospace or high-tech environments
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex workflows
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and operations teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with bonded stores, cleanroom protocols, or controlled inventory environments
  • Experience with ERP or other inventory control software
  • Knowledge of space/aerospace program documentation and tracking standards

Deliverable(s)

Within your first year, you’ll help deploy a robust inventory control system and define end-to-end material handling standards that will directly support the successful development of cutting-edge space telescope hardware.
