As a GEO Wide Field of View (WFOV) Intern, you will work on real-world space mission challenges—developing and analyzing satellite data and algorithms that directly support operational GEO missions. Your summer project will result in a tangible, mission-relevant deliverable used beyond the internship.

Stellar Solutions is seeking a Science & Technology (S&T) Intern focused on Satellite Operations, Data Analysis, and Algorithm Development. This role bridges advanced research with operational programs, ensuring the maturation and transition of cutting-edge technologies into mission capabilities. As an intern supporting Stellar Solutions, you’ll be responsible for planning and executing a summer project with leave-behind capability – providing a listing contribution to National Defense.

 

The ideal candidate will also:

  • Have, or be pursuing a degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field. Individuals with backgrounds in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Aeronautical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Astrophysics, or related discipline are encouraged to apply.
  • Be passionate about a research topic and use the opportunity at Stellar Solutions to advance their knowledge.
  • Communicate Proficiently and present findings to senior military/civilian leaders; resolve complex technical issues

 Applicants missing some of the required qualifications, but possessing an inherent for data exploration and experimentation are highly encouraged to apply.

 

Required skills:

  • Python development, including: Astropy, Scikit-learn, SciPy
  • Interest in space missions, and desire to support operational space flight
  • Comfortable asking questions and working both individually and in dynamic team environment

 Additional desired qualities and competencies:

  • Pre-existing research interest related to Spacecraft Operations, Optical Space Data Exploitation, Data Exploitation and Analysis, and Infrared Detector Technology
  • Familiarity with computational astronomy or space dynamics
  • Familiarity with SAOImage DS9

Clearance & additional requirements: 

  • Clearance: Able to receive Secret Clearance
  • Education pursuing Bachelor’s in Engineering or Master's degree

Compensation:

The internship paid compensation is USD$28.00 per hour. As part of the Stellar Solutions team, the intern will be invited to participate in local employee gatherings, including the Annual Fall Meeting (travel and accommodations provided, if necessary).

Deliverable(s)

You will work on real-world space mission challenges—developing and analyzing satellite data and algorithms that directly support national security space operations. Your summer project will produce a tangible, leave-behind deliverable used by operational teams and decision-makers.
