Overview

Stellar Solutions, a nationally recognized “Great Place To Work,” delivers engineering solutions across commercial space and national security missions—from innovative new entrants to established space systems organizations.

We bring talented, energetic, and immediately productive professionals to meet critical customer needs in systems engineering and integration, mission operations, program management, and strategic planning—helping teams deliver resilient capability to the mission with speed, quality, and focus.

Stellar Solutions is seeking a Chief Architect & Enterprise Support professional to provide senior enterprise architecture, front-office advisory, cross-program integration, technical strategy, and program-support leadership for a proposed government space systems and mission-support effort. The role supports customers standing up, inheriting, and scaling complex space, ground, data, and mission capabilities.

The position is designed for a trusted senior leader who can help customer executives and program offices frame the problem, shape technical and programmatic options, connect programs at different stages of maturity, and drive coordinated action across government, contractors, mission partners, and operational users. Digital engineering, MBSE, and model-based methods are valuable capabilities within the role, but the primary purpose is broader enterprise architecture and front-office support: turning mission priorities into coherent technical strategy, executable plans, and decision-quality recommendations.

Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications

This is an enterprise-support and chief-architect role for a highly experienced systems, mission, or program leader who can operate above a single program while still engaging deeply enough to resolve technical, integration, execution, and stakeholder issues. The role may also perform contract program-management or task-lead duties for Stellar, as appropriate, while supporting the Government in aligning architecture, requirements, schedules, risks, acquisition activities, and mission outcomes across a complex portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior enterprise architect and front-office advisor supporting complex space systems, mission-support, and related national security mission areas.
  • Advise senior government leadership on portfolio-level technical strategy, architecture direction, cross-program dependencies, capability gaps, risk posture, and priorities for future development.
  • Help define and mature enterprise architecture approaches that connect mission needs, operational effects, requirements, space and ground segments, data flows, interfaces, processing, dissemination, and end-user outcomes.
  • Provide cross-program integration support for efforts at varying stages of maturity, helping establish common technical direction, governance rhythms, decision forums, and integration mechanisms.
  • Assess existing and emerging programs for architecture consistency, technical maturity, interface risk, execution dependencies, requirements gaps, and opportunities for reuse or harmonization.
  • Lead or support enterprise-level architecture trades, mission threads, operational use cases, effects-chain analysis, and capability roadmaps that inform customer decisions and acquisition priorities.
  • Coordinate across program offices, mission systems engineers, acquisition organizations, contractors, FFRDCs, advisory teams, ground-system teams, data and mission users, and senior customer stakeholders.
  • Help customer leadership translate strategic mission objectives into actionable architecture, requirements, acquisition, integration, and operational-transition plans.
  • Provide technical and programmatic input to front-office planning, executive briefings, investment decisions, staffing and competency assessments, program reviews, and enterprise roadmaps.
  • Support acquisition and contractor oversight activities by contributing to technical strategy, RFP and SOW/PWS inputs, evaluation criteria, CDRLs, technical-review expectations, architecture deliverables, and execution governance.
  • Use digital engineering, MBSE, architecture frameworks, model-based methods, or model repositories where useful to improve traceability, integration, analysis, and decision quality; tailor the approach to mission and program needs rather than treating tools as the objective.
  • Potentially serve as a Stellar contract program manager, task lead, or senior technical lead for an enterprise-support team, including coordination of team priorities, deliverables, customer engagement, and execution status.
  • Prepare executive-level reports, briefings, architecture assessments, decision memoranda, roadmaps, trade-study recommendations, and other products using Government-approved systems, software, and processes.

Required Qualifications

  • 18+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering, enterprise architecture, mission engineering, technical program management, government advisory, SETA, FFRDC, or complex space and national security programs.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or advising on enterprise-level architecture, cross-program integration, technical strategy, front-office support, systems engineering leadership, or portfolio-level program execution.
  • Experience supporting government space, satellite, ground systems, mission data, communications, ISR/GEOINT, remote sensing, radar/RF, SAR, or related national security missions.
  • Experience working across government executives, program offices, technical teams, acquisition stakeholders, contractors, mission partners, and operational users to align priorities and resolve complex issues.
  • Strong systems-thinking capability, including the ability to connect mission objectives, requirements, architectures, interfaces, data flows, verification evidence, operational workflows, and program execution.
  • Experience preparing and delivering executive-level technical and programmatic recommendations, decision materials, architecture assessments, roadmap products, and integrated plans.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a high-tempo, ambiguous environment where customer requirements and staffing needs may evolve as the enterprise is established.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in a Chief Engineer, Chief Architect, Enterprise Architect, Technical Director, Systems Engineering Lead, Program Office Advisor, or comparable senior leadership role.
  • Experience supporting front-office, PEO/PMO, directorate, mission-area, or enterprise integration functions for government space or national security customers.
  • Experience with Digital Engineering, MBSE, SysML, Cameo, MagicDraw, UAF, DoDAF, digital-thread concepts, architecture repositories, or model governance; these capabilities are preferred but not required as the sole professional identity.
  • Experience supporting acquisition strategy, program planning, RFPs, SOWs/PWSs, source selection, CDRLs, technical reviews, risk management, integrated master schedules, or contractor oversight.
  • Experience with one or more advanced space mission areas such as AMTI, GMTI, SAR, radar/RF sensing, ISR/GEOINT, mission processing, ground architecture, satellite communications, or mission-data transport.
  • Experience supporting SSC, USSF, SDA, NRO, NGA, MDA, AFRL, DoD, IC, NOAA, NASA, USGS, or similar federal mission environments.
  • Experience leading small technical teams, managing customer-facing workstreams, or serving as a contract/task manager is strongly preferred.
  • Active or recent Top Secret/SCI clearance is strongly preferred.

Clearance & Additional Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Active security clearance is required; Top Secret/SCI eligibility or access is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to access U.S.-only data systems and support classified government mission environments is required.
  • Ability to travel to temporary work locations up to 20%, as needed.

Location

Chantilly, VA. Other Stellar and customer mission locations may be considered based on program need.
